Lovely. I love it when someone form outside Poland can actually in one simple picture show the complexity, richness, and sensitivity of Polish soul. Which other nation could appreciate (in their own way) so many shades of grey?

Each time I see a strip or a joke about PL I know there's going to be a great long flame of comments following it. I believe it's because Poland has changed a lot in the last generation's time and young people are proud of what they have achieved by now. Jokes based on stereotypes refering to the communistic past & left-overs kinda grab these people by the small hair on their backs. These jokes build on a picture that they put so much work to put behind them. I can laugh, I have lived abroad long enough to see that every country has its share of cliches and stupidities and it makes the world more interesting place to live in, yet I don't share the weight of work beign done back in the country either.

I quite agree with some opinions in previous comments. I stayed in Norway for a year and all I can say about Norwegians is: friendly, honest, virtuous and well-educated people! They told me that there were times in Norway... good times when everyone would leave the front doors unlocked. That was before the wave of immigrants.

Ok you people... let me tell you something: I’ve been bitching about my home country-Poland ever since I was born. So what I did was, I moved to US and started a new life. Got a good job in IT and pretty much reached the goal which was living a dream - and then I woke up... I’ve seen many places all over the world, western, northern Europe and US but nothing is comparable to Polish rainbow. Better think of Scandinavian suicide prevent commercials in TV!? Wonder why is like that? Maybe because sun rises at 10AM and sets at 3PM? And it’s actually too low to make any kind of rainbow even though it rains 5 times a week… So cut the crap please….

I guess it's not about colours - we have some most beautiful places in Europe to see and pretty colourful cities (although some places look just like on the picture), but nation's attitude could do with some more appreciation of what we have.
It only made me realize of how much we complain and whinge about e-ve-ry-thing after I travel a bit around Europe and had this cheerful or just reasonable conversations with old and young, healthy and ill, few poor and few rich - Poles DO see everything worse than it is - and no point denying. Someone mentioned that's because "we're fucking poor". And that's possibly is part of the reason most other nations forget about.

As for the attitude towards gay people - this one has changed a lot. Unfortunately - it's not what you see on TV or read in the newspapers. Our politicians know well how to give Poles a bad reputation by saying things that may be their personal opinion - not the nation's tho

I'm from Poland and I think it's awesome picture :) Someone did good job, and it's not only about colors which you can see but the way people think and live. Poland might be colorful too, but in my opinion what polish people see with their eyes looks exactly like this picture. I can almost hear thoughts of those people on picture: "Crap, next fuckin' day at work. It was raining whole damn weekend and now when I go to work damn sun came out. This strip is great! You can argue, but there are a lot of regions in Poland where everything is still quite gray. It just needs time to change. And it changes all the time, especially with the help of young people.

True dat, everything has two sides though - in city of Poznan, where the famous "freedom parade" took place (and was scattered by the police) people have a great tolerance for gay people. It depends whose views on that you really care about. Old people? They will die soon. Young people? Welcome home.

Sad thing is that the "old people" are mostly what we see in media and who are in charge of this country, so the strip is perfectly right, but I believe it's going into the right direction - future generations will be much more tolerant.

They should do a rainbow in holland :P

Actually there are some jokes about banning rainbows (those damn gay symbols, arrrgh), but that just shows not everyone hates gay people. Younger people, in general, are much more tolerant, too.

Poles can be happy, but it's in a bad tone to actually admit it if even one person around you isn't having fun - then, you should complain about how everything sucks. If you're too happy, it means you're too dumb to understand the hopelessness of your situation, or you're doing something illegal. ;)
