Reminds me of my elementary school teacher in religion who told us (during desert storm) that Saddam is going to launch nuclear missiles and we're all going to die. She told us that that was ok, because heaven was the best place. I didn't believe her but a lot of kids did and they reacted as shown above. Given that, it is funny because you shouldn't underestimate the dogmatic power of weird elementary school teachers

Caroline, you can't be serious. I was horrified as a student through the 60's and 70's wondering how I would stay warm through the coming ice age. They showed us film after film that showed the earth's cooling due to air pollution, etc. Go back and look at old "Time" magazine covers. Surely that will spark a memory or two. I am now an officer for the E.P.A. (environmental protection agency) in the Pacific Northwest and can accurately state our air and most bodies of water are cleaner now than in the late 1970's. Perhaps we've done too good a job at cleaning up to cause global warming. The important thing to remember is that the earth is constantly cooling or warming. it never stays the same.

Caroline from United States
February 2, 2008

Who the devil are the people that were talking about "and ice age" in the 70's? I was in elementary school in the 70's and I have distinct memories of learning about global warming EVEN THEN! And this was in a very conservative part of the US!

Well, all those problems aren't that big anyway. AIDS is slowly getting under control, mainly in civilized countries that is. But in poor countries it helps prevent overpopulation. As for overpopulation in general, it is something that will solve itself, because in a place where millions of people are really close together, some new disease will find it's way. As for global warming, the only thing we know is that the things we classify as enhancing it are bad for the environement in general. After all, the greenhouse effect was something that was proposed at a meeting and accepted because of lack of a true explanation. Kinda like how we ended up with a worldwide war on drugs.

Well I'm not...

In the 70's, pretty much the same guys that now are pushing the idea of global warming threatened us with a new ice age...

@ cpt and randy

funny how without reading where you were from I knew almost 100% certasin it was another EU vs USA. :P

As for climate change, well I'm a believer as I have to deal (professionally) with the first signs of it happening. How far it will go, the exact causes and wether or not we can stop it is a different debate, but let me assure you its not something that might happen, it is already happening!

randy from United States
February 1, 2008

Thank you Cpt from Netherlands. You just convinced me to buy a new SUV. I'll give my "slightly used" SUV to my daughter while I drive the new one. That way we will have 3 SUV's on the road in my family counting the one my wife drives. Just think, it will save me from having to drive my kid to school where I have to see the idiot teachers. The same bunch that tried to convince me that an ice-age was coming when I was in school.

Cpt from Netherlands
February 1, 2008

Why do some of those parents look so angry at the teacher? Would they rather having her telling fairy tails all day long and no truths? Why not forbid mathematics as well, then the children won't be nagging about prices which are too high! Noooo.. the parents don't want the truth to be told because of the prevention of having nagging children -yelling and screaming because with each mile a tree dies somewhere - in the back of the SUV or MPV when they drive the critters to school each day for the full mile in stead of walking with them. Or when they are a bit older the children might want to ask their parents to go out and buy condoms with them "because they are older and know which are best". They are in denial! Woe is them! They are the true causes of problems in the world and don't want the children to know, they would rather see their offspring do the same or worse!

well.. that's my rant for today.

I agree. I doubt that the children understand anything of what is on the blackboard.
@Sabak
I agree. In fact it is the rakish angle of her boobs that is scaring the children.
In my earliest memory of school I could not understand a word of my teacher, but I was fascinated by the way her boobs jutted out of her sweater.
Wait! I have just pulled out my early drawings. One is of a big mushroom cloud...ahah! that early lesson must have been about how the world was just about to be blown up by an atomic bomb.

Anders Morgenthaler & Mikael Wulff

Well,

we're two humans who call ourselves Mikael Wulff and Anders Morgenthaler - and yes we both own a computer - wow!?

We

don't have real jobs - like a lawyer, account, or fisher - and we know very little about stock trading. But people tell us that we're excellent at boiling eggs.

We

love movies about lawyers evicting turtles from their homes - we hope for a big TV series. We enjoy music made by lawyers. We don't like technology - especially the Ipod, Itunes and Iphone from Mac since we prefer less selfish products like the Youpod.

We

also think that playstations and video games, mobile phones and DVDs, computers and autos and plane travel are overrated and useless compared to prune juice - it's more healthy and it helps you digest.

We

rarely go outside and are a little uneasy with the whole concept of hotels and travel. Why would you want to travel when you can just go Spain and relax?

Besides

that we kind of enjoy life; we have a huge mortgage to pay and have no insurance - we're just being optimistic. We love our TV and follow our mortgage rate constantly on the teletext. We think it would be a good idea for MTV to create a new channel just called MTV Mortgage which would only be about tips and tricks from real estate agents.
